In this weekend house the team at INAIN Interior Design crafted an interior that enters into a strong and eloquent dialogue with the architecture. An open plan upper level living space opens onto the raised pool area, while the lower level comprises a large recreation room and theatre – the home definitely isn't lacking an abundance of grand social spaces! High quality materials are employed to enhance the opulent aesthetic. Now let's take a closer look at this luxurious weekend home!
A long wall of glass panels and sliders is capped by a thick roof profile that wraps down the side of the structure; the elevation has a very strong horizontality. Opening onto the raised pool area, there is no lack of outdoor furniture upon which to perch on a beautiful summers day. A frameless glass balustrade wraps around the timber decking, disappearing into the horizon.
The property is surrounded by an abundance of tall trees which enclose the outdoor space. Beneath the pool and patio, the garage finds a home. The form-work has imprinted a beautiful texture onto the cast concrete which adds another point of visual interest to the exterior.
The long kitchen island looks out towards the stunning pool area. It has a minimal aesthetic; all white surfaces, negative details, and concealed handles all adhere to the minimalist manifesto.
A mirrored surface at the end of the island creates a degree of separation without truncating the space. Extending the lines of this mirrored surface, a perforated metallic insert wraps along the ceiling and houses three very subtle ceiling lights.
The white ceiling feels expansive within the low horizontal volume, almost as if it is floating above the space. Two feature lights pull focus towards the otherwise sparse dining area -a simple white table accompanied by muted gray chairs.
Elsewhere, the colour palette remains the same; white, neutrals and grays. For more living space ideas, take a look at these varied examples!
The recreation room features the same timber floors, low expansive white ceiling and glass walls. However, a slate wall injects the space with a different texture and hue.
This rec room is completed by a second dining area and lounge space, a pool table and an adjoining theatre – there is no shortage of social opportunities in this home! Are you after a media room, too? Take a look here!
The entry lobby houses the staircase that connects the two levels of the home. Large double doors feature a seamless pane of glass overhead which floods light into the space. The wall surfaces are dark and textured at the lower level and white and smooth at the upper level. Frameless glass makes a second appearance in the stair balustrade, while unusual wedge-shaped structural elements prop the stair treads to create a sense of the unexpected.
