Superfluous space is nice, after all, who doesn’t want a huge home? But square metres don’t necessarily make a nice home, and here at homify we’ve seen some simply stunning properties of very modest sizes. In the end it’s not the size of a property that counts, but how it’s used.

Today we’re taking a tour of beautiful home that could be described as a modern take on Mediterranean style.  The home is by no means tiny, but what’s impressive is how the interior architects have used the fairly modest space. Let’s take a look…

A modern Mediterranean style

We begin our tour in the open-plan living room and dining room space, where we find predominantly modern décor. The bright white walls create a clean and light living space, and combine with the simple, modern dining table and modern metallic lamp to give the room a very contemporary feel.

However, there’s also a somewhat nautical theme to the space, as the style of the floor makes it appear almost as if it could be the deck of an old ship; the lamp shade above the dining table resembles a shell and if we look to the right we can see a lamp with an intricate sailing knot adorning it.

Let’s sea the rest if the room

Turning to face the stairs we get a glimpse of the rest of the room. The open-plan area benefits hugely from its high ceilings that give the impression of a larger space, and if we look to the stairs themselves, we can see further examples of the quaint, unifying nautical theme in the rope railing going up the staircase.  Looking ahead we also encounter charming little nautical accents such as the figure of an oyster catcher by the television along with another decorative sailing knot.

Take a look at the terrace

The real charm of this lovely home has to be the abundance of outdoor space, and here on the ground floor terrace we find plenty of space to relax as well as a dining table to enjoy outdoor meals in the Mediterranean sun.

From the outside the property has a more quintessentially Mediterranean feel with characteristic stonework and roof tiles, as well as wooden shutters on the windows.

It doesn’t stop there, there’s more upstairs!

Just in case one terrace isn’t enough for you, upstairs we find a second outdoor space with sun loungers, and spectacular sea views; what more could you want?

A quaint cabin

Continuing the nautical theme, in the bedroom we find adorable rope patters on the pillows as well as light wooden panelling on the walls that really makes you feel as though you’re in an old ship’s cabin, albeit a very comfortable one.
