When you browse through our thousands of different homes and professionals and look at enviable bathroom images all day, it's easy to get disheartened by your boring bathroom.  But just because you aren't in the position to have a complete remodeling done, doesn't mean you can't customise your bathroom and make it more beautiful!

For this reason, we've put together a list of seven things even you can to do turn your bathroom from boring to uniquely you! From simple additions to wild paint jobs, we're sure you'll find something you like.

So, what are you waiting for?

1. Special lighting

One of the first things you can do to customise your bathroom is to incorporate some unique lighting. This bathroom has quite a few hanging lights over it, which creates a star-like atmosphere when soaking in the tub below.

Colourful mood lights are also a great way to spice things up, and the best part about those is you can change the colour whenever you want. This is a great option for the indecisive among us, or the ones who just love variety.

2. Murals

Paintings on the walls are great for small bathrooms, or ones that need an artistic touch. This calming landscape takes us on a journey through rolling pastures. Just imagine what kind of atmosphere you could create with your own mural!

3. Wall decals

We know it's tough to commit to a mural anywhere in the home, so if you want to add a little artwork but don't want to dedicate a wall to a painting you're not sure you'll like later on, go with wall decals. They stick on like stickers and come in just about any theme you can think of. They won't come off, no matter how much steam builds up in the room, but they are easy to remove whenever you get tired of them.

Take inspiration from this underwater themed bathroom–the fish match the tub and seem to be diving into it. Designs like these aren't often replicated, so you can rest assured that your decals will be solely yours.

4. Sculptures

Some of us like to hang pictures, others like to hang trophies–or decorative ones, at least. Get that wild look with faux rustic animal heads or other interesting sculptures to hang on the walls. Not only do they add decoration, they could also be a great place to hang your hat.

5. Antique touches

Any bathroom will get more vintage when you add antiques to the space. A simple vase or perhaps a moderately-sized mirror and you can make your outdated bathroom look like it was designed to be a blast from the past! Just ask any interior designer

6. Colourful accents

Monochrome rooms never excited anyone, so why have it in the bathroom? Splashes of bright teal make this sophisticated bathroom that much more appealing, and we love how they coordinated the wall with the storage. For smaller bathrooms, we recommend brighter colours, but if you have the space, go nuts and pick your favourite!

7. Furniture

Last but not least, if you have the space in your bathroom, one sure-fire way to customise it is with furniture. This old-fashioned chair looks like an heirloom from grandpa and instantly gives character to an otherwise undecorated space. Any one of these ideas can bring unique qualities to your bathroom without you having to spend more than a week's worth of groceries if you're a good bargain hunter, so now there's no excuse!
